LINCOLN — Nebraska got a lot of publicity after it unveiled an edgy state tourism slogan in 2018: “Honestly, it’s not for everyone.”
But a state senator proposed Thursday that more unified messaging might be accomplished if the state’s economic development director and the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce were more involved.

Pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly is slashing the list prices for some of its most popular insulin products by 70% and capping insulin copays at US$35 for uninsured patients and those with private health insurance. These changes follow efforts by the federal government, the California state government, nonprofits and some companies to make insulin more affordable for the more than 7 million Americans with diabetes who require it.

WEEPING WATER – Superintendent Kevin Reiman had a problem. He couldn’t find new teachers. He was lucky to get even a few applicants for jobs that used to bring in fifty resumes.

You could say that sales taxes are the form of taxation that truly affects every person – it’s the classic consumption tax. It is also the one politicians often reach for first to ratchet-up to fund their next project du jour. That being said, the folks over at the Tax Foundation recently put together some numbers showing combined sales tax rates (state & local where applicable) for each state. Interestingly, five states do not have statewide sales taxes: Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon.
