FCC Environmental is now providing curbside collection of trash, yard waste and recycling, using covered carts and automated CNG-fueled trucks in Omaha, effective today.
“FCC will provide convenient, clean, consistent residential service,” Mayor Jean Stothert said in a statement. “Omaha will now offer the industry-gold standard in collection, and we did it without increasing your taxes.”

Bellevue – Authorities arrested a 23-year-old man in an attack at a Bellevue fast food restaurant in which two employees were shot and killed, two were wounded and officers responding to a report of a possible bomb inside a moving truck in the parking lot arrived to find the vehicle on fire.

Omaha’s police chief said that two officers acted appropriately when a Black man was fatally shot during a traffic stop last week because the man repeatedly didn’t comply with commands, but video of the confrontation won’t be immediately released.
Police Chief Todd Schmaderer said Monday that the officers followed department policy when Kenneth Jones was shot on Nov. 19 near 27th and Harrison streets.

A new playground at Chalco Hills Recreation Area will remember the legacy of a 4-year-old boy who died in 2018 due to unexpected cardiac arrest.
The Board of Directors of the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District recently approved a cost share to purchase and install new playground facilities at the Sarpy County recreational area at Wehrspann Lake north of Gretna, replacing 30-year-old equipment.

Matthew Kuhse will be the interim city attorney effective Dec. 12, taking the reins for the City of Omaha Law Department after the retirement of Paul Kratz.
