An Omaha man has been sentenced to 15 to 20 years in prison after his fifth drunken driving conviction.
The Omaha World-Herald reported that Wilbur L. Jackson, 44, also was found guilty of leaving the scene of an accident and second-offense reckless driving.

The Douglas County Jail was experiencing an uptick in coronavirus cases last week among its staff and inmates, but infections remained below the levels seen this past summer.
Since the onset of the pandemic, a total of 164 employees and 100 incarcerated individuals have tested positive for the virus, according to a news release.

The state government is setting up a new field office in North Omaha intended to boost investment in the region.
The Nebraska Department of Economic Development plans to open a field office in North Omaha by the end of January, Gov. Pete Ricketts said during a news conference last week.

For its annual holiday charity drive, the Sarpy County Bar Association raised more than $4,000 to help area families in need this holiday season.
With assistance from Sarpy County Human Services, the SCBA adopted three families totaling 19 people. A bar member’s extended family adopted a fourth family of five who have been struggling this year.

Sarpy County is pioneering the use of a new process for road construction authorized by the Nebraska Legislature in 2016.
The county government is the first entity in the state to use the Construction Manager/General Contractor process for road work, according to a county news release. The process was created by lawmakers as part of the Transportation Innovation Act.

The annual Reflections Ball hosted by the Midlands Community Foundation won’t be held for the first time in 39 years.
The foundation’s board of directors decided to cancel the ball because of the coronavirus pandemic, “out of an abundance of caution for the health and welfare of everyone involved,” according to a news release.
