Douglas County has agreed to pay $120,00 to settle a lawsuit by the family of a woman who died while waiting for nearly an hour for rescuers to find her Omaha home after she called for help using 911.
The Douglas County Board voted Tuesday to approve the settlement with the family of 54-year-old Cristine Herek, The Omaha World-Herald reported.

The Midlands Community Foundation raised more than $920,000 through its annual Matching Charitable Program, with $476,020 qualifying for matching funds.
The program, which ran Dec. 1 through Jan. 5, provided matching donations up to $5,000 per donor.

Fremont – A disciplinary committee has called for an emergency suspension of the law license of an embattled Nebraska county prosecutor who is set to resign March 1.
A committee of the Nebraska Bar Association that governs attorneys in eastern Nebraska is seeking the immediate suspension for Dodge County Attorney Oliver Glass, The Omaha World-Herald reported.

Mother Nature has thrown a lot of challenges at Omaha, including the coronavirus crisis, this week’s bitter cold temperatures and, as soon as that long-awaited thaw arrives, yet more potholes.

An Omaha firefighter has filed a lawsuit against the city, saying she endured discrimination and harassment because of her gender and race.
Jane Crudup, who is Black, says in her lawsuit filed earlier this month that the harassment she endured included finding her firefighter gear hung from a flagpole last March in a way that simulated a lynching, The Omaha World-Herald reported.
