It’s been 30 years since that resulting Central Park Mall was renamed after affable Mayor Gene Leahy, who championed a “return to the river” movement that led to the mall’s creation.

OMAHA, NE (June 30, 2022) – Creighton University’s Pierce Greenberg, an assistant professor of sociology in the Department of Cultural and Social Studies, published a report assessing the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) in Omaha. Key findings from the report:
Emergency rental assistance in Omaha effectively prevented more than 7,400 evictions from April 2021 to April 2022.

The Omaha-based Heartland Workers Center, whose aim is to build leadership and civic engagement among underserved groups across Nebraska, has named Lina Traslaviña Stover as executive director.
As head of the nonprofit headquartered on Omaha’s historic South 24th Street, Stover oversees programs including a “Get out the Vote” campaign, Young Nebraskans in Action and a Women’s Leadership Development Program.

Omaha is a racist and segregated city, and many cannot fully respond to issues confronting the community because of white fragility and apartheid behaviors. Judicial and law enforcement have been allowed to (conspire) ignore the facts of many people of color dying in law enforcement custody over the years, as indicated by Adam's report.
