Eight Apply in Second Round of Candidates for Sixth District Bench Vacancy

Eight candidates have submitted applications for appointment as a district judge in the 6th Judicial District of Nebraska.

The successful candidate would replace Judge Paul J. Vaughan, who resigned effective May 31.

CASA for Douglas County held its ninth annual CASA Superhero Festival and 5k Run Saturday at Aksarben Village. 

The event sought to raise awareness about children in foster care and how volunteer court-appointed special advocates help lift up their lives and voices.

Federal Judge Sylvia Rambo first thought of a legal career in the 1940s when her school bus drove by a local law school in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Hearing to Determine Juvenile Court Vacancy

The Judicial Resources Commission will hold a public hearing Sept. 10 to determine whether a judicial vacancy exists in the Douglas County Juvenile Court.

The meeting follows the retirement of Judge Douglas F. Johnson of the Separate Juvenile Court of Douglas County.

Creighton Law Students Back on Campus

Students have returned to classes at the Creighton University School of Law.

First-year students started out last Tuesday with orientation, and they began classes Thursday, while second- and third-year students are starting classes today.
