The law license of the former Dodge County attorney was suspended last Wednesday by the Nebraska Supreme Court.
The court upheld the suspension of Oliver J. Glass in a case brought to the justices by the Counsel of Discipline. The counsel sought an emergency suspension of his license to practice law in Nebraska.

Gov. Pete Ricketts has appointed Ryan S. Post of Lincoln as a judge of the Lancaster County District Court.
Post, 34, has served as Civil Litigation Bureau Chief for the Nebraska Department of Justice since May 2017. His judicial appointment is in the state’s 3rd Judicial District, which spans Lancaster County.

Gov. Pete Ricketts has appointed Lynelle Homolka of Central City as a county court judge in the 5th Judicial District.
Homolka, 46, has served as the Merrick County attorney and Central Nebraska Youth Services administrator since 2011. The 5th District consists of Boone, Butler, Colfax, Hamilton, Merrick, Nance, Platte, Polk, Saunders, Seward and York counties.

Criminal trials and court hearings ground to a halt last year after the onset of the pandemic.

Three finalists were selected last week for a county court vacancy in the 1st Judicial District.
Jeffrey A. Gaertig of Beatrice, Lee M. Timan of Beatrice and Richard R. Smith of Cook were selected by members of a judicial nominating commission. Those names were forwarded to Gov. Pete Ricketts.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nebraska will have an interim leader until President Joe Biden names a successor who receives Senate confirmation.
Jan W. Sharp, the first assistant U.S. attorney, was designated last week to take over as acting U.S. attorney upon Joe Kelly’s departure at the end of the month, the office announced in a news release.
