Redevelopment Project Plan

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Omaha, Nebraska, will meet and hold a public hearing on November 19, 2024, beginning at 2:00 PM in Legislative Chambers, 1819 Farnam Street, Omaha, Nebraska 68183 for the purpose of hearing testimony for:

1501 Howard and Standard Rehab

Redevelopment Project Plan.

The redevelopment project plan proposes the extensive rehabilitation of two historic buildings with both providing affordable housing. The three story brick building at 1501 Howard will have 16 residential units and 6,726 square feet of first floor commercial uses, and the building at 500 S 18th Street will have 40 residential units and about 3,719 square feet of first floor commercial use.

The Planning Board recommended approval of this Redevelopment Project Plan at the September 4, 2024 public hearing.

The Redevelopment Project Plan authorizes the City’s participation in the redevelopment of this project site through the allocation of Tax Increment Financing (TIF) in an amount up to $1,316,643.00, which includes capitalized interest. TIF loan proceeds will be used to offset eligible expenses such as building rehabilitation construction and other public improvements as required. The total estimated project costs are $24,733,348.00, but are subject to change as final costs come in.

A copy of said plan is available for public inspection in the City Clerk’s Office.
